On the morning of May 24, 2021, the School of Civil Engineering of Taiyuan University of Technology successfully held the 118th to 120th sessions of the "First-class Strategy" Young Doctoral Forum. Professor Wang Maosang, Senior Engineer of Shanxi Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd., Professor Dong Xiaoqiang, Deputy Dean of the School of Civil Engineering (presiding over the work), Professor Liang Renwang and Professor Han Pengju of the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, and representatives of doctors and masters in related research directions of the college attended the meeting. forum.
First of all, Dong Xiaoqiang gave an opening speech, introduced the historical evolution and importance of the "first-class strategy" young doctoral forum held by the college, and emphasized that doctoral graduates should pay attention to the accumulation of scientific research achievements, and should eliminate the defense mode during the process of the forum, and focus on Academic exchanges and interactions can truly play the role of a doctoral forum, and I hope that all graduate students in the audience can gain something today.
The forum consists of four parts: doctoral report, expert comment, question and discussion, and assessment. Lu Ruina, a 2015 doctoral student, Yao Xin, a 2016 doctoral student, and Niu Shiwei, a 2018 doctoral student have successively made a series of papers entitled "Research on the Properties and Causes of Sensitive Silt in the Middle Reaches of the Fenhe River in Shanxi" and "Mechanical Properties of Jute/Polyvinyl Alcohol Fiber Cement Soil". Research on early crack resistance performance", "Research and development of high-belite sulfoaluminate cement-based (HOC) fissure grouting materials and related mechanism research" academic reports.
Starting from the engineering practice, Dr. Lu Ruina pointed out that after the foundation is treated with gravel piles, the bearing capacity of the foundation decreases and the deformation of the foundation increases. The scope, physical and mechanical properties, causes and soil improvement methods are studied.
Dr. Yao Xin conducted research on the use of cement-soil deep mixing piles when the buildings around the foundation pit are dense, the excavation space is limited and the excavation depth increases. It is proposed to add chopped fibers to the cement-soil mixing pile to improve the bending performance and post-cracking strength of the cement-soil wall pile under the condition of limited wall width, and to improve the brittle failure form caused by the crack of the wall pile.
In the field of grouting engineering, high belite sulfoaluminate cement (HOC) has become one of the trends in the development of grouting materials in the future due to its low energy consumption and low CO2 emissions. Based on the theory of cement composite and closely combined with grouting engineering practice, Dr. Niu Shiwei conducted research on the composite and related mechanism of high-belite sulfoaluminate cement grouting materials.
The three assessment experts questioned and discussed in terms of the lecturer's report, research content, research quality and research contribution, and made wonderful comments.
This "first-class strategy" youth doctoral forum fully demonstrated the academic accomplishment and comprehensive ability of the doctoral students of the School of Civil Engineering. It has played an important role in broadening academic horizons, exercising comprehensive ability, creating an academic atmosphere, and promoting interdisciplinary research.
